📖 A little story behind the name

Why is it called Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Think of the country’s name as a two-piece history puzzle!

Bosnia

The name is connected to the Bosna River and the region around it.

Herzegovina

Its name comes from “herceg,” a title like duke used by medieval ruler Stjepan Vukčić Kosača.

Put the two names together and you get the name of one country, with stories from both historic regions.
